Get a Ninja Pty Ltd ("Get a Ninja", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the personal information of all users in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). 3. Programmatic PII Masking on Public Task Pages
This section explains our mandatory compliance mechanism for public task listings under the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
When customers post job requests on our platform, those job listings may be indexed by search engines for programmatic SEO purposes (e.g., "assemble Ikea wardrobe Bondi"). To comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and prevent the public exposure of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), all public task pages are automatically processed through our PII Masking Engine before rendering.
What Our Masking Engine Does
- Full names are truncated to first name and last initial only (e.g., "Sarah Mitchell" becomes "Sarah M.") — ensuring identity cannot be determined from the public page.
- Street/house numbers are replaced with the token
[Hidden], while the street name is preserved for general location context (e.g., "12 George St" becomes "[Hidden] George St"). - Email addresses — any string matching standard email patterns is replaced with
[Hidden]. - Phone numbers — Australian mobile numbers (04xx xxx xxx) and landlines (+61 or 0x xxxx xxxx) are replaced with
[Hidden].
This engine operates as a mandatory pre-render sanitization pipeline. Raw user-submitted text is never rendered directly on public-facing pages. If you believe PII has been inadvertently exposed, please contact us immediately at support@getaninja.com.au.
4. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service Professionals ("Ninjas"): limited contact information once a job offer is accepted
- Payment processors: for secure transaction handling
- Cloud service providers: for hosting and infrastructure (subject to data processing agreements)
- Regulatory authorities: when required by Australian law or court order
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by Australian law. Account data is retained for 7 years after account closure to comply with financial record-keeping obligations under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). You may request deletion of your personal data at any time, subject to legal retention obligations.
